About

Name: Vicki Parsons

Location: Llanmartin, South Wales, UK

When did I start cardmaking?: I’ve probably been cross-stitching since I was around ten years old, and I have to admit I do still have the card containing the first cross stitch I ever did (a seahorse from a Mouseloft mini kit). I don’t think I came up with the idea of making cards until I was well into my teens; maybe fourteen or fifteen, and since then the habit has snowballed to a stage where I don’t buy cards for anyone any more.

In more recent years I have started using papercraft as a simpler method of cardmaking (handy for short notice!) and this Christmas I attempted to put some cards together using my new sewing machine (with varying levels of success: I’m still working out how to use the darn thing!).

What other projects do I make?: I’ve made a few wedding samplers in the last two years; the most recent being my first attempt stitching on evenweave with a frame.

A few years ago I stitched some Christmas tree decorations as a  present for my mother after some inspiration from Crossstitcher Magazine.

In 2012 I wish to start on many bigger projects such as cushions, and learning new crafts and techniques such as needlepoint and jewellery making.

Quick fire:

Favourite stitch: cross-stitch

Favourite fabric: 14-count aida

Favourite supply shop: Hobbycraft or The Range

Best place for inspiration: Oddly while I’m walking the dogs in work
